Fuera de la pantalla
Walking through the streets of our city, we stumbled upon an unexpected place. The streets of Barrio Colombia awakened our senses; the light of the place and its elements compelled us to explore, feel, smell, and experience them up close.
The dimness, the hidden colors of immense and expressive graffiti, the solitude, the peculiar smell, and the mystery of the cars resting there were the most intriguing elements.
By day, it is an industrial neighborhood with the scent of dampness… of cargo, automotive repair, spare-parts shops, steel and metal products, fabric stores, lunchtime soccer matches… industrial life in every corner.
By night, it takes on a peculiar character. The workshops and factories close their doors, making way for the buses that finish their workday and park in the many lots around the area, welcoming, without really meaning to, those who seem to be visitors, the workers enjoying a beer after their shift, and the calm routine of the 28 families who live there.
It was the perfect setting to blend reality with our digital world. Painting the cars with bursts of light using license plates styled after the digital formats that are part of our daily work became our premise.
The shutter speed and the brush, which in this case was an LED light, were the tools that gave life to our idea. After finding the right vehicles and the perfect atmosphere, we ended up with 12 photographs of cars, each one with its own personality.
